Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with the Daily Express reporting that Everton value the striker at at least £70 million.
It is clear what the biggest priority for the Gunners is this summer. Mikel Arteta’s men absolutely need at least one new striker at the end of the campaign.

And Calvert-Lewin is one of the names to have been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal. Of course, he was absolutely outstanding for the Toffees last season, scoring 16 times in the Premier League. Carlo Ancelotti labelled him ‘fantastic‘.
This season however, has been much more difficult. He has struggled with injury. And he has only scored three goals in 10 appearances in the top-flight.

Frank Lampard’s side face a fight to keep themselves in the division. Certainly, Arsenal may now have reason to hope that Everton are unable to beat the drop.
The Daily Express reports that Arsenal face paying at least £70 million if they want to sign Calvert-Lewin this summer. However, that price will drop considerably if Everton are relegated.
Calvert-Lewin interest provides interesting sub-plot to final Arsenal game of the season
On paper, Everton have the strongest squad. However, their run-in looks to be the worst. And they have taken three points from their last five league games.
Interestingly, Everton’s final game of the season takes them to the Emirates to face Arteta’s side. So Arsenal may well have a say in what division they are playing in next year.
Obviously, their interest in the 25-year-old adds another layer to that game. If Everton are not safe by then, Arsenal can hand their own summer plans a boost by ensuring that the asking price for Calvert-Lewin drops.
