Arsenal could be on course to make a summer move for Newcastle flyer, Allan Saint-Maximin, according to a new report from the French news outlet, Le10 Sport.
The Magpies winger has been in exceptional form for Steve Bruce’s side this season. Indeed, since the restart, the Frenchman has caught the eye, helping Newcastle to excellent wins at home to Sheffield United and away at Bournemouth.
However, his form as caught the attention of onlooking clubs around Europe now, with Arsenal and Napoli now rumoured to be interested in the winger. Tottenham have also been credited with an interest in the Frenchman this weekend.
The report from Le10 claims that the Gunners have already made contact with the representatives of Saint-Maximin as they try and improve their squad this summer.
Saint-Maximin has won praise from numerous pundits this season. Indeed, following the win over Sheffield United, Jamie Redknapp described him as ideal for the Premier League and as someone with a ‘big future’.
This would make Arsenal’s attack frightening, what a signing – TBR View
Wow, what a signing this would be if Arsenal could pull it off.
However, where they would find the money from is something else. Newcastle are bound to be demanding a hefty chunk of change for their star man, so the Gunners are probably looking at a fee in the £50-60m mark.
Whether Arsenal can afford that, remains to be seen. But, the thought of Saint-Maximin, Pepe, Aubameyang, Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka forging an attacking threat next season is quite scary.
If Arsenal can pull this off, it would be one of the signings of the summer.
