Jamie Redknapp has told The Daily Mail that Allan Saint-Maximin has a “big future” after another exceptional performance for Newcastle United – scoring in a 3-0 win over Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon.
In what was billed as a close encounter ahead of the match, with Sheffield United even slight favourites, Newcastle produced an excellent display to win 3-0. The turning point, though, was John Egan’s red card.
Saint-Maximin opened the scoring with a tidy finish after a mistake from Enda Stevens, before Matt Ritchie lashed a 20-yard effort into the corner and Joelinton scored only his second Premier League goal of the season.
Redknapp discussed Newcastle’s win in his Mail column and while he discussed how much Joelinton need to score his goal, which was created by Miguel Almiron, he also predicted Saint-Maximin to have a big future.
“In the 78th minute he started a move before bursting into the box to finish it,” Redknapp said. “The 23-year-old needed that. But this win for Steve Bruce’s Newcastle over a good Sheffield United side was about Allan Saint-Maximin. He suits the Premier League and, at 23, has a big future.”

TBR’s view – Saint-Maximin can lead new Newcastle era
With an announcement reportedly on the cards this week, the takeover promises plenty of new signings. If such an overhaul happens, a number of players could lose their place in the side – but not Saint-Maximin.
Saint-Maximin is the type of player the new owners should be looking to buy in the upcoming market. Young, but quick, powerful and a fan favourite – he is perfect for Newcastle and as Redknapp says, he has a big future.
