Arsenal are considering offering Ainsley Maitland-Niles a new contract at the Emirates having previously looked at selling the youngster this summer, according to a report from the Daily Mirror.
Maitland-Niles’s future has been a talking point for much of the summer. He went into the window off the back of a stunning FA Cup final display that was lauded by supporters.
However, it appeared that he could be on the way out of North London this summer. The Mirror noted that the Gunners were considering letting the 22-year-old leave to raise funds for their transfer plans.
It was suggested that Wolves were preparing a fresh offer having seen a £15 million bid for Maitland-Niles rejected.
But it appears that Wolves may be set for further disappointment.
The Daily Mirror has suggested that Arsenal are not only now contemplating keeping the academy graduate, but they are also weighing up offering him a new contract.
It is a decision that would surely be incredibly popular amongst Arsenal fans. Not only is Maitland-Niles impressing for Arteta’s men currently, but he also offers considerable versatility.
He has shown that he has the potential to play a key role for years to come.
And perhaps, this summer will be looked back upon as a pivotal time in Maitland-Niles’s career in which Arsenal narrowly avoided making a massive error.
