Arsenal and Newcastle told target Mudryk will cost £87.75m
Arsenal and Newcastle United may have to pay £87.75 million if they hope to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk, according to The Athletic, with Shakhtar Donetsk believing that he has as much quality as Jack Grealish or Antony.
Mudryk is one of the most exciting talents in Europe right now. He has scored eight goals and contributed eight assists in all competitions this season.
He has been heavily linked with clubs in the Premier League, particularly Arsenal. And it would appear that he would love to move to the Emirates.
Shakhtar set Mykhaylo Mudryk price
Mudryk told CBS Sports that he would struggle to turn the Gunners down. And he has reiterated his admiration for Arsenal in an interview in the last few days.
But it would appear that Mikel Arteta’s men will have to be prepared to pay a club-record fee for Mudryk.
According to The Athletic, both the Gunners and Newcastle have been monitoring the winger. However, Shakhtar chief executive Sergei Palkin has outlined what they will have to be prepared to pay to sign him.
“Mudryk is a talent in a process. What he is showing today, it’s just 60 per cent of what he can do in the future. And when you multiply this, you realise that he costs much, much more. Therefore, we believe that in the future he can cost definitely around €100 million,” he told The Athletic.
Meanwhile, director of football Dario Srna explained why he believes that Mudryk is worth more than £87 million.
“The market is deciding the price — not me,” he said. “Antony, Grealish, they are players of more than €100m and for me, Mudryk does not have less quality than them.”
It is obviously a remarkable sum. And it would be a huge statement for either Arsenal or Newcastle to part with that figure to sign Mudryk.
However, his potential appears to be absolutely frightening. He is already making a huge impact. And yet, he does not turn 22 until the turn of the year.
It will seem like something of a risk. But given the level of interest in him, there is likely to be one admirer willing to make an offer Shakhtar are prepared to accept.
Both Arsenal and Newcastle are back amongst the Premier League heavyweights. And with that, signing a talent of Mudryk’s calibre could be a game-changer.
