Report: Arsenal find out what needs to happen for them to land £110k-a-week international

Arsenal will only be able to sign James Maddison this summer if the Leicester star makes it known he wants out from the Foxes.

That’s according to the Leicester Mercury, who claim that the Foxes will not stand in Maddison’s way if he makes it clear he wants to move.

It has been suggested in recent days that Maddison is a top target for Arsenal. Their manager, Mikel Arteta, is keen on adding creativity, and Maddison is apparently seen as the ideal man.

The Foxes could demand around £70m for Maddison, according to differening reports in the past days. The England midfielder was integral for Leicester last season, despite missing time through injury.

However, a move to Arsenal could entice the former Norwich and Coventry City man. Arteta is currently overseeing a huge rebuild. Maddison, then, would be key to that it seems.

But while Leicester won’t stand in his way, the Foxes are also under no pressure to sell. They have a plethora of top stars who are courted by others, including Youri Tielemans.

The club also have no problem with digging their heels. They sold Harry Maguire for £80m, demonstrating their prowess in the market.

Maddison to Arsenal surely a downward step for the midfielder?

Of course, the history and size of the club in general makes Arsenal an interesting proposition, but surely Maddison stays in Leicester?

They can match the salary he’d get in London. They’re also higher up the PL food chain at the moment. Further, Brendan Rodgers also loves Maddison, and plays him in the biggest games when fit.

At Arsenal, Maddison would be a key player. But there’s a risk as well that he also just becomes another fish in the pond.

All in all, it just seems a risky move for Maddison this one. He’s settled at Leicester, and it could all unravel with the wrong move away.
