Arsenal have reignited their interest in Athletico Paranaense midfielder Bruno Guimaraes amid doubts over Granit Xhaka’s Gunners future, according to a report from the Mail on Sunday (29/12; page 112).
Mikel Arteta lauded Xhaka ahead of his first game in charge on Boxing Day (via Telegraph). And Xhaka seemed to vindicate those comments with one of his best displays for some time in the draw at Bournemouth. The fans were certainly impressed.

Nevertheless, it appears that the Switzerland international – who earns £100,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – could be on the move next month. The Mail on Sunday reports that he is in talks with Hertha Berlin about a return to the Bundesliga.
And Arsenal look to be preparing themselves for his potential departure. The Mail on Sunday (29/12; page 112) reports that the Gunners are interested in the 22-year-old, who is also on Chelsea’s radar.

Bruno Guimaraes made his debut for Brazil’s under-23s earlier this year, and appeared 25 times in the top flight.
He is a player who can dictate play from deep, but is also more than happy to drive forward and will take players on when he does approach more advanced areas.
He is certainly combative. Bruno Guimaraes has collected 17 yellow cards in 84 first-team appearances during his career.
If Arsenal are going to lose Xhaka next month, the signs suggest that the youngster could be an extremely exciting target.
