Report: Arsenal above all in race to sign Youri Tielemans this summer

Arsenal are one of the sides leading the race to sign Youri Tielemans, with Tuttosport suggesting that the Leicester City midfielder is looking increasingly likely to leave this summer.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Tielemans for some time. In fact, reports in January claimed that Edu had met with his agent.

He has been outstanding since moving to the Premier League with Leicester. Of course, he scored the stunning winner in last season’s FA Cup final at Wembley.

His form has dipped at times this season. But his contract situation opens the door for a potential bargain. His deal at the King Power Stadium expires at the end of the next campaign.

Reports have suggested that he could cost just £25 million this summer. And it does indeed appear that Arsenal are planning to make a move.

Tuttosport is now reporting that Arsenal and Manchester United are the sides above all in the race for Tielemans, with Juventus also monitoring him.

Arsenal’s lack of depth in midfield has been exposed this past week. They lost Thomas Partey to injury against Crystal Palace. And with Kieran Tierney also now sidelined, Granit Xhaka was also taken out of the midfield against Brighton.

It does highlight of importance of strengthening this summer. And Tielemans is someone that a lot of Arsenal fans would be very happy with.

He is a ‘special‘ player with a lot of quality. And he is not going to cost a huge amount of money due to the fact that his contract is expiring.

It would appear that Arsenal have put themselves near the front of the queue. Plenty of supporters will be hoping that they remain there when the summer window arrives.
