Report: Antoine Griezmann could snub Spurs for Juventus if Ronaldo leaves
Any hope Spurs have of landing Antoine Griezmann this summer could depend on how Cristian Ronaldo sees his future with Juventus.
Reports this week have claimed that Spurs have been offered Griezmann, as Barca look to shift some of their high earners off the books.
A move for Griezmann is likely to depend on a number of factors. The big one being if Harry Kane stays put, given the wages the Frenchman would likely demand.
However, it seems another obstacle could be the interest of Juventus.
Calciomercato have claimed that Juve are keen on Griezmann. But, any move the Turin outfit make would be dependant on Cristiano Ronaldo moving on this summer.
The Portuguese superstar’s future is on rocky ground at the moment, although murmurs from Italy this weekend suggest he will stay put.
Griezmann won the World Cup with France in 2018 and would certainly elevate Spurs if he did sign. His time with Barca has not been as successful as he’d have liked, although he did hit 13 La Liga goals last term.
An unlikely signing
While Spurs are active in the market, the signing of Griezmann does appear to be one of the more unlikely ones.
He’s on huge money in Barcelona and at 30, isn’t exactly on the right side in terms of sell-on value in the future.
On a short-term deal that works financially, Spurs would obviously be getting a top player. But beyond that, it’s hard to see where the value lies in the Frenchman.
A move back to Atletico is touted by reports, while obviously Juve would need to ship Ronaldo out to make their move. Griezmann, then, looks likely to stay in La Liga this summer.
