According to Jeunes Footeux, Lille midfielder Renato Sanches is a priority transfer target for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta this summer.
The Gunners tried very hard to bring in a new midfielder in January. The likes of Arthur Melo and Youri Tielemans were linked with a switch to the Emirates, but no move materialised in the winter window.
Arsenal will surely make a move for a new midfielder in the summer and if the latest report is to be believed, Arteta has made up his mind – he wants Sanches to be his new man in the middle of the park.
To make things better for the Gunners, the Portugal international will be available for a bargain fee.
Arsenal can sign Renato Sanches for just £16m
Arsenal have Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga in the middle of the park at the moment, but the Gunners could lose two of them in the summer.
Elneny’s contract will expire at the end of the season and he is expected to walk away. Xhaka, who is a mainstay under Arteta, is also linked with a move away with Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma reportedly set to revive their interest in the Swiss international this summer.
If Arsenal lose both their midfielders, they will need to replace them with top-quality players. Sanches certainly checks that box and the report claims that Lille would be open to letting him leave for just £16.7 million in the next transfer window.
That’s a bargain for a player of his quality.

TBR View:
Sanches’ career has been a rollercoaster so far.
The Portugal international was once viewed as the best young talent in world football. He joined Bayern Munich and a lot was expected of him, but he failed to live up to all the hype.
A failed loan spell at Swansea made things worse for him but after joining Lille in 2019, he became a star. He is finally showing the world what he’s all about and his performances helped Les Dogues win the Ligue 1 last season.
Sanches, labelled as ‘amazing‘ by Carlo Ancelotti, would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal and at just £16.7 million, it really is a no-brainer for Arteta and Edu.
