Chris Wheatley has told Football London that it is certainly possible that Granit Xhaka will leave Arsenal this summer, with Roma expected to make a fresh move for the midfielder.
Xhaka has continued to have an interesting time at the Emirates. He has been a regular fixture in the side this season when he has been fit and available.

However, he continues to have his doubters. And of course, he seemed to come incredibly close to leaving the Gunners last summer. Roma looked set to seal a deal following his superb showing at Euro 2020.
It came as a surprise to many therefore, when he ultimately stayed and extended his contract. But perhaps that new deal may have only delayed his departure by 12 months.

Wheatley was asked about Xhaka’s future in a Q&A for Football London. And he hinted that there could end up being a willingness from all sides for the Swiss to move to the Italian capital this summer.
“As for a summer move, it’s certainly possible,” he said, as reported by Football London. “Roma are expected to come back in for Xhaka with Jose Mourinho a long time admirer of the Swiss international. Arsenal would let him go for the right price.”
Arsenal need to secure upgrade on Xhaka this summer whether he joins Roma or not
Mikel Arteta is clearly a huge fan of having Xhaka at Arsenal. He has previously described him as a ‘phenomenal‘ player.
And he is a leader at a time when the Gunners are weighing up who should be the long-term captain at the Emirates.
Having said that, Arsenal look to be taking the right stance on Xhaka’s future. It would appear that they are open to him staying. But they do not plan to stand in his way should he attract a reasonable bid.
Xhaka is never going to win over all of the Arsenal fans. And the Gunners must improve their midfield options this summer.
They currently lack depth in the middle of the park. And they should arguably feel that they can land an upgrade on Xhaka whether he stays at Arsenal or not.
