Report: 'Amazing' player now ready to leave club and sign for West Ham

West Ham United have received a huge boost in the January transfer window, with the Daily Mirror reporting that Jesse Lingard is ready to leave Manchester United to return to the London Stadium.

Lingard’s future has been a talking point ever since he joined the Hammers on loan 12 months ago. He proved to be a more inspired signing than anyone could have imagined. Rio Ferdinand labelled his impact ‘amazing’.

However, West Ham were unable to bring Lingard back in the summer. But, despite his form, his playing time upon his return to Old Trafford has hardly increased. And with that, it was recently suggested that talks over a new contract had broken down.

David Moyes remains interested in bringing the 29-year-old back. And it seems that a January return to West Ham has moved a step closer.

The Daily Mirror reports that Lingard is ready to leave Manchester United now. And he is hoping to seal a move back to the Irons.

West Ham unlikely to rue acting sooner and bringing Jesse Lingard back in January

Obviously, West Ham will be wary of overpaying for Lingard. He is set to be available on a free transfer in the coming months.

However, it looks to be an incredibly smart move to act now with the England international keen. West Ham have plenty to play for this season. And adding Lingard to their ranks will provide a timely boost.

And given that players tend to demand more lucrative deals when they arrive on a free transfer, the Hammers probably would not save as much as some may expect by signing him in the summer.

Previous reports suggested that his asking price is £10 million this month. A deal therefore, seems to be a no-brainer for West Ham.
