Report: AC Milan interested in Douglas Luiz; meet with midfielder's agents

AC Milan are interested in signing Douglas Luiz and met with the Aston Villa star’s Italian agents today, according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Luiz’s future in recent months. Reports have previously suggested that Roma want the Brazilian. Meanwhile, Arsenal have been linked in the past.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that Luiz is considering leaving Aston Villa ahead of the final year of his contract. And it appears that it is Milan who are taking the most serious look.

The report claims that the Italian agents of the midfielder met with Milan today. The Rossoneri were looking to understand the financial package that may be needed to secure the 24-year-old’s signature.

Milan are looking to move for Luiz should they miss out on Renato Sanches. And it does seem that the player is open to leaving.

It would be a blow for Villa to lose Luiz this summer. He played every minute in Villa’s final five league games of last season.

But they have signed Boubacar Kamara. And Luiz is out of contract at the end of next season. So, the Villans may have little choice but to consider offers should he make it clear that he is not signing a fresh deal.

Reports have previously suggested that Villa want £25.9 million for Luiz. And that would possibly be a decent fee given his contract situation. He has also not always been in the most impressive form since his move.

He is a player who has been described as ‘unbelievable‘. And there is absolutely no question that Villa could have a special talent in their ranks if Steven Gerrard can get the best out of him.

But his contract situation leaves plenty up in the air. And it seems Milan are looking to potentially capitalise.
