Sportske Novosti claim that Hajduk Split manager Jens Gustafsson left Mario Vuskovic out of his squad over the weekend, as he ‘prepares for a Celtic transfer’. The talented teenager is a target for the Hoops. Now, the report says he is on his way, after missing the game.
Hajduk Split saw off Greek side Aris 3-1 in a pre-season friendly, but 19-year-old Vuskovic was left out of the squad. That is, despite being a regular over the last 18 months. He played 33 of his 44 Hajduk Split matches during 2020-21, helping his side finish in a solid fourth position in the PRVA Liga.
The Daily Record claim that Vuskovic is worth £5million. While it remains to be seen if Celtic will pay such a figure, Ange Postecoglou’s side are closing in on a deal. Now, after being left out of his side’s pre-season friendly win, SN say he is preparing to join Celtic.

Celtic transfer news: Vuskovic would be a very solid signing
Not only a player with massive potential, with plenty of first-team game time already – but Vuskovic has enormous resale value. Signing him for £5million, Vuskovic could impress at Parkhead – and then sold for a much bigger fee.
Celtic have seen a £4.3million offer thrown back already, but that £5million will be enough. With the Hoops losing Shane Duffy and potentially Kris Ajer too, a centre-back is a must for the Hoops. Vuskovic is a good start. But plenty more signings should be on the radar for the Scottish giants.
