Report: 20-year-old Tottenham player wants to go out on loan this season, Conte is going to allow it too
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott is planning to head out on loan this season and Football.London reports that Antonio Conte will not stand in his way.
The 20-year-old is currently in South Korea with the Spurs squad for their pre-season tour and is enduring the Italian’s grueling training sessions.
But despite training with the squad, Football.London reports that Parrott plans to head out on another loan this season. It claims that the Irishman will return and challenge for a place in the first-team in the 2023-24 season.
Before he heads out on loan though, Parrott has been training with the Spurs squad and players were pictured collapsing during training in Seoul on Monday. But Parrott apparently led the pack on the final lap of the running session, as reported by the Athletic.
Football.London states that a host of Championship clubs are interested in the striker, including the likes of Swansea City, Middlesbrough, Preston North End and QPR.
And Conte will allow him to pursue a temporary move away from the club, with the report stating that the player’s plan to get more first-team minutes on loan is backed by Tottenham.
Parrott spent last season on a temporary move at MK Dons in League One and he impressed, despite missing out on promotion.
The Irishman has already received official interest from Sunderland, with the Northern Echo reporting that Tottenham have received a bid from the newly-promoted Championship side.
Despite being desperate to impress Conte, it now seems Parrott has decided to head out on loan to gain some valuable game time.
TBR’s View: Parrott Needs First-Team Experience Playing As A Striker
Although Parrott is clearly making an impression during pre-season fitness sessions, it is probably for the best if he gets a loan move this summer. He needs first-team football to continue his development and Conte has a host of attacking options, especially after the signing of Richarlison from Everton.
It’s also important that he gets experience playing as a striker at his next club as he played predominantly in an attacking midfield role at MK Dons. If Parrott makes a statement at his next club, he could become the ideal back-up to Harry Kane in the future.
