Report: £13.5m Leeds target could be fast-tracked for summer exit, Guardiola wanted him in 2018
Leeds United have been linked with Maxwel Cornet in recent weeks.
A month ago, the Whites reportedly made a bid for the Lyon full-back, which was rejected.
Now, it looks as though Cornet could potentially be fast-tracked for a summer departure.
This comes in wake of Lyon’s shock 3-0 defeat to Angers in Ligue 1 last Sunday.
According to RMC Sport, the club was not happy with the attitudes of several players and have already suspended Marcelo.
Apparently Cornet, Houssem Aouar, Rayan Cherki, Islam Slimani and Thiago Mendes are also in the firing line.
With Peter Bosz recently taking charge of Lyon and Juninho eager for a “big clean-up”, they could look to sell the quintet before deadline day.
Cornet is a top player who was reportedly on Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s radar in 2018.
“I was very impressed by the talent of Maxwel Cornet,” Guardiola said after the player scored a brace in a 2-2 draw in November 2018.
However, Leeds have since signed Junior Firpo, and Burnley are apparently closing in on a £13.5million move for Cornet.
Though the Whites could certainly attempt a late swoop if they so wish, what would Marcelo Bielsa make of these reported attitude problems?
