‘Remarkable’… Mikel Arteta left blown away by attitude of 22-year-old Arsenal man against West Ham

There’s certainly no doubt that Mikel Arteta will have been delighted with his Arsenal players against West Ham United today.

Not only did Arteta watch his side win 6-0, but he also saw them finish well and show a ruthless ambition to continue scoring.

Perhaps the likes of Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka were the best performers on the day, if you’re only choosing three.

But it was a well executed game plan from start to finish, with Arsenal once again making the most of their set pieces.

Nicolas Jover will have surely been just as proud as Arteta, with both William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes heading home from dead ball situations.

In fact, Arsenal fans will also be amazed at what Gabriel did just before heading home Rice’s delivery.

But with all that being said, one performance seemed to really stand out to Arteta.

And when speaking to Sky Sports after the West Ham rout, Arteta felt particularly lucky to have a player like Saka at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta praises Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka for his attitude and consistency at West Ham

Arteta was blown away by what Saka is already achieving at his age, and how long he’s been doing it for.

He said: “When you talk about consistency at his [Bukayo Saka] age…what he has done in the last two or three seasons is remarkable.

“His attitude, his quality, what he delivers every week…it’s really difficult to find. That’s why he is so important to us.”

Of course, Saka will be absolutely crucial to any title bid Arsenal look to mount this season, a player who simply can’t get injured.

And fortunately, with such a comfortable lead, Arteta was able to bring off and rest several of his key Arsenal players at West Ham.

It was a remarkable afternoon, one that displayed Arsenal’s progress as much as West Ham’s poor form right now.

And if the result sees David Moyes under further pressure, it’s quite the opposing situation at the Emirates.

And with all that said, Arsenal may have just been delivered good news in the transfer market too.
