‘Really special’: Frank Lampard now believes two Everton players have totally revolutionised the dressing room

Everton manager Frank Lampard has said that Conor Coady and James Tarkowski have revolutionised the dressing room at the club.

Lampard was speaking to BBC Match of the Day after his side’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace yesterday.

It was one of Everton’s best performances of the season as they scored three goals for the first time this season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin announced his return from injury with his first goal of the campaign.

Anthony Gordon and Dwight McNeil also got in on the act, but it was Everton’s centre-backs that Lampard singled out for praise.

On BBC Match of the Day (22/10 11:15pm), Lampard said: “I can only speak from what I find having those two lads in the club.

“To be honest, they’ve absolutely revolutionised the dressing room if I can say that.

“Off the pitch, their attitude in training, their application, it’s been really special to see that.

“And then their performances on the pitch, they’ve taken us forward, they work well together.

“They’ve given themselves and done themselves a bit of a case today with the way they’ve played in front of Gareth (Southgate) then great.”

Coady and Tarkowski have revolutionised Everton dressing room

It was clear from Everton’s performances last season that a change was needed in defence.

The Toffees conceded 66 goals, 13 more than relegated Burnley, but outscored every team below them in the table to stay up.

Managers have been unable to rely on Yerry Mina given his injury issues, and Michael Keane’s form deteriorated as the season went on.

Young centre-backs Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate certainly have potential.

However, they’ve not been strong enough to start alongside each other, with Everton winning just 3 of the last 15 matches they’ve played together.

The signing of James Tarkowski on a free transfer has looked like a fantastic piece of business.

Danny Murphy said yesterday that he’s the best English centre-back right now.

His partnership with Conor Coady has been fantastic, and the pair love playing together.

It’s no surprise that Coady and Tarkowski have revolutionised the dressing room at Everton, given their personalities.

Lampard will be hoping they can continue to inspire their team to put in top drawer performances like they did yesterday.
