Paul Merson has urged Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to give young Harvey Elliott a start against West Ham United this weekend.
The Reds are high on confidence after winning the Carabao Cup last Sunday and then progressing to the quarter-final of the FA Cup for the first time ever under Klopp on Wednesday.
The German will be hoping that his side can continue their good run but he’ll know better than anyone else that David Moyes’ West Ham are more than capable of hurting them tomorrow.
Merson believes Liverpool will win the game even though it’ll be a difficult one. The Englishman also urged Klopp to start Elliot in midfield ahead of someone like James Milner or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Paul Merson: Harvey Elliott should start for Liverpool vs West Ham United
In his Premier League predictions column on Sportskeeda, Merson wrote: “Liverpool are rolling along and I don’t think there is a team out there that can prevent them from scoring.
“So, I think they’ll win (against West Ham) and put major pressure on Manchester City as they prepare to take on Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.
“Liverpool have a lot of options in midfield, but against West Ham, I’d pick Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Harvey Elliott.
“The 18-year-old is a bright young player and can pick a pass, I really like what I’ve seen from him so far. You don’t need three defensive-minded players, so I’d pick Elliott to play alongside the two experienced campaigners.”

TBR View:
Elliott is a phenomenal talent, we all know that.
The youngster, still only 18, has impressed everyone whenever he has played. He’s brilliant on the ball, has good vision and can play in more than one position, which makes him a really useful player to have.
West Ham are a difficult side to play against and having beaten Liverpool already this season, Moyes will be hoping for a repeat of what happened in November.
However, Klopp will back his side to pick up a comfortable win at Anfield tomorrow and Elliott, who has never played against the Hammers at senior level before, will hoping to get the nod from the start.
