Paul Merson has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane will not play every game next season.
The Englishman is Spurs’ best player. He has been absolutely incredible for them over the years, and without him, Tottenham look lost more often than not.
That’s one of the biggest reasons why Kane has barely ever had a break. He plays almost every game when he’s fit, which is not good at all and seriously increases the risk of injuries.
Kane, branded as an ‘amazing player’ by Dane Scarlett, will still be the main man for Spurs next season, but Merson believes he will be rested a lot more than he has been over the years.
Paul Merson thinks Harry Kane may not start every game anymore
In his column on Sportskeeda, Merson wrote: “I always go for Harry Kane when someone asks me to predict the winner of the Golden Boot because he’s some player.
“He had three league goals last season until December but ended up finishing just four shy of Mohamed Salah and Heung-min Son, who shared the Golden Boot with 23 goals apiece.
“The only issue is that Kane might not play every game this season due to a number of reasons. For starters, his injury-record doesn’t make for good reading and to make matters worse, the 2022 FIFA World Cup is coming up in December, so he could well be rested to stay fit for the whole season.
“Additionally, the arrival of Richarlison could see Antonio Conte rotate his star man, so it’ll be really interesting to see how this one pans out.”

TBR View:
Nobody can deny that Kane has been overused and over-relied upon by Tottenham over the last few years. The Englishman rarely ever gets a break, but things could change this season.
The five-substitutes rule will be introduced at the start of the new campaign, which will allow Antonio Conte to withdraw his star man when his side is cruising to a victory.
To add to that, Tottenham finally have a reliable backup for Kane. Richarlison has been brought in to provide cover for the Englishman, as well as Dejan Kulusevski and Heung-min Son whenever required.
That makes Spurs a really strong outfit, and with Conte at the helm as well, they could go on to have a really special season.
