Real Madrid are ready to listen to offers for Spanish midfielder Marco Asensio, who has been a target for Arsenal during this summer’s window.
It was only a week or so ago that reports from Spain had claimed that Mikel Arteta was keen for Arsenal to sign Asensio at all costs. Of course, since then, negotiations to sign Raphinha and Gabriel Jesus have ramped up at Arsenal, meaning Asensio’s name has somewhat tailed off.
However, 90Min has now claimed that Real Madrid are ready to sell Asensio. And that news will encourage Arsenal should they indeed miss out on Raphinha in the end. The Leeds winger is widely tipped to join the Gunners, albeit they face competition from Chelsea, Barcelona and Tottenham.

Asensio, meanwhile, is still wanted at Madrid but Los Blancos want him to sign a new contract with a wage that reflects a reduced role in the squad. That, of course, could push the Spaniard towards the exit door.
As reported on TBR before, Asensio is said to have a huge release clause of £400m in his contract. Madrid are expected to demand around £43m for the midfielder, should they indeed do a deal with anyone.
TBR’s View: Asensio Would Be Fine At Arsenal If Raphinha Deal Falls
While Arsenal fans are getting excited at the prospect of signing Raphinha this summer, it doesn’t hurt to have a few back ups in the bank. And in fairness, Asensio isn’t a half bad reserve option.
The Spanish midfielder has been a star of the show at times for Madrid in recent years and has helped himself to Champions League titles and La Liga success.
Certainly, should Arsenal miss out on Raphinha then they could do far worse than sign Asensio.
