Ray Parlour suggests Arsenal should now look at Sofyan Amrabat

Ray Parlour has told talkSPORT that Arsenal should look at Sofyan Amrabat after his performances in helping Morocco reach the semi-final of the World Cup.

Morocco’s incredible journey in Qatar is almost over. They will contest the third/fourth place play-off against Croatia after losing to France on Wednesday night.

A number of their players have shone during the tournament. But few players enhanced their reputations quite like Amrabat. The Fiorentina star has undoubtedly been one of the best midfielders of the last few weeks.

And with that, interest in signing the 26-year-old is increasing. Calciomercato reports Tottenham want Amrabat having come close to signing him during the previous January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also admirers of the Moroccan. So it would be no surprise if he moved away from Florence during the upcoming transfer window.

Arsenal are flying right now. And Mikel Arteta appears to have struck the perfect balance in the middle of the park, with Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard impressing this season.

Nevertheless, Parlour suggested that he would be very happy to see Amrabat end up at the Emirates.

“Amrabet, I tell you he’s a player. If I was Arsenal, I’d be looking at him. Central midfield, he can get his foot in. Very good player,” he told talkSPORT.

The report claiming that Spurs and Liverpool want Amrabat notes that he will cost over £30 million. But based on his displays for his country, that could prove to be a real bargain.

He has been ‘outstanding’ during the tournament. Joe Cole suggested that he has been one of the best holding midfielders at the World Cup.

Arsenal have bigger priorities after losing Gabriel Jesus to injury. But it does appear that they need further depth in the middle of the park.

And Amrabat would be arriving at the peak of his powers at a time when Arsenal need to hit the ground running when the season resumes.
