Raphinha may well have disappointed a number of Leeds United fans on Instagram after his account liked Bruno Fernandes’ post celebrating Manchester United’s win at Elland Road on Sunday.
Leeds were on the wrong end of an agonising 4-2 scoreline. Marcelo Bielsa’s men fought brilliantly in the awful conditions. But a number of defensive mistakes ultimately cost the home side.

It had appeared that Fernandes had ensured that it was game over at half-time. He headed home the visitors’ second just before the break.
However, Bielsa made a couple of changes at the break. Raphinha and Joe Gelhardt came on. And within nine minutes, Leeds were level.

It was Raphinha who bagged the equaliser, sliding in to get on the end of Dan James’ cross. It appeared to be a pivotal moment, particularly with the winger left out of the starting lineup.
Unsurprisingly, Elland Road was rocking. However, as the game started to settle again, Ralf Rangnick’s men seized control and went on to score the decisive two goals.
It was a sickener for Leeds. They more than played their part in an enthralling derby. And they remain on the edge of the relegation battle in the Premier League.
Certainly, Raphinha rediscovering his best form could be huge for Leeds. What may not help keep the fans on side however, is liking a post from one Manchester United player celebrating the victory.
But it does appear that Raphinha has indeed done that after Fernandes posted on Instagram…

Whatever the reason, Raphinha liking post is really not the best look for Leeds star
It must be noted that Raphinha and Bruno Fernandes are friends. They played together at Sporting. Fernandes even spoke of wanting to see Raphinha return from injury in time for this same fixture last season.
There is also obviously a chance that Raphinha does not deal with all his social media. And thus, it may have been someone in charge of his account who has liked the post.
However, neither the relationship between the two players or the notion that someone else could be monitoring his account is a real defence.
He and his team would have known how important yesterday’s game was to Leeds, both in the context of the rivalry and this Premier League season.
The nature of the loss made the result all the more difficult to stomach. So if there was one post from Bruno Fernandes for Raphinha and his team to perhaps scroll past, this was definitely the one.
