Rangers star sends four-word Instagram post to Jordan Jones
Winger Jordan Jones offered a timely reminder of his quality to Rangers boss Steven Gerrard on Sunday as he aims for another Ibrox chance.
The 26-year-old scored Northern Ireland’s opening goal as they defeated Malta 3-0 during their latest friendly.
Jones is facing a fight for his Rangers future. He was loaned out to Sunderland in January, scoring three goals during 21 appearances.
The Rangers flyer was unable to help the Black Cats reach the Championship. He will now return to Ibrox looking for a reprieve.
Jones was buoyant after Sunday’s win and earned some praise on Instagram from a Rangers star.
Fellow countryman Steven Davis sent a heartfelt congratulations post to Jones after he stated his delight.
Jones arrived at Rangers from Kilmarnock during the summer of 2019. It’s fair to say things haven’t gone according to plan, however.
He has rarely been considered a first-team regular, making just 19 appearances for the Gers.
Jones did show some promise during his time on loan with Sunderland. With three goals and four assists to his name, there were some positive moments.
The challenge has been consistency for Jones and to get a Rangers chance he must showcase more.
The 12-cap player scored his first Rangers goal during 2020/21, during a comprehensive win over Motherwell.
He failed to truly impress Gerrard though and was loaned out during the January window.
Davis should act as inspiration for Rangers misfit
The 36-year-old Teddy Bears star was magnificent as Rangers lifted the title during 2020/21.
He made 49 appearances and is ageing like a fine wine as he comes towards the end of his career.
The 126-cap midfielder is a model professional and prides himself on keeping himself fit for each and every game.
Jones can still earn a chance at Ibrox and has a contract until 2023.
Plenty look up to Davis and the Northern Ireland winger would be wise to use him as his inspiration to win over Gerrard.
