Celtic earned a comfortable 3-1 pre-season friendly win over Sheffield Wednesday but had to come from behind to do so. In Ange Postecoglou’s first game in charge, ex-Rangers attacker Josh Windass opened the scoring with a neat finish. Rangers fans have applauded Windass on Twitter.
Windass, 27, is still contracted to Wednesday despite the Owls suffering relegation to the third tier of English football. But he continues to be linked with a move back into the Championship, after having a hand in 15 goals during 41 games last term. That form has not stopped in pre-season.
Getting on the end of a low ball into the Celtic area, Windass finished superbly first time into the bottom corner. It was just three minutes into Postecoglou’s first game. But Celtic came roaring back to win 3-1. Windass posted on Twitter as the ex-Rangers star netted against Celtic.
What have Rangers fans said about Windass and his goal against Celtic?
Windass was up and down at Rangers. There were times where he was excellent, scoring goals on a regular basis. Other times, he was played out wide and the source of criticism for fans. On one occasion, Windass scores and even ‘shushes’ the Rangers support. But he remains a well-liked figure.
He finished at Rangers with 19 goals and 13 assists in 73 appearances. Now, a £5million-rated (Examiner Live) player, Windass has received praise from Rangers fans for his goal against Celtic.
