Rangers are clearing the decks and after confirming the exit of six first-team players, it now appears Steven Gerrard’s side are informing some younger players that they will be leaving the club – and Rangers fans have reacted to Joao Balde’s post.
The Gers confirmed earlier this month that six senior players will be leaving Rangers at the end of their contracts – in the form of Wes Foderingham, Jordan Rossiter, Jason Holt, Jon Flanagan, Jak Alnwick and Andy Halliday.
Since then, 21-year-old defender Aidan Wilson has confirmed his exit on Instagram – posting a heartfelt message to supporters. Now, 19-year-old midfielder Balde also seems to be on the way out – becoming the eighth to be confirmed as leaving.
The Portuguese star posted on Instagram, confirming that he is the next player to leave Rangers in the coming weeks and that he will not have his contract at Ibrox extended. He kept it short and sweet, thanking Rangers for the opportunity.

Given the rate of departures at Ibrox, Balde might not be the last to confirm he is leaving the club on social media. He departs despite even being called up Portugal’s Under-19 side in the past.
Rangers supporters reacted to his Instagram post on Twitter, with many seemingly surprised at his exit. Kevin Thomson also responded, wishing Balde “all the best”.
