Aidan Wilson has confirmed that he is to leave Rangers at the end of his contract this summer with a heartfelt post to supporters on Instagram – and plenty of teammates have responded, including midfielder Jamie Barjonas.
Rangers confirmed the departures of six first-team players last week – in the form of Wes Foderingham, Jordan Rossiter, Jason Holt, Jon Flanagan, Andy Halliday and Jak Alnwick, who will all be released when their contract expires.
But it appears the departures will not stop there. Hong-Kong born Wilson will also be leaving the club, despite making two senior appearances for the club and impressing in spells during a loan with League Two side Edinburgh City this season.
Wilson posted a sentimental message to Rangers fans and the club itself after he was informed his contract would not be renewed before its expiry on Monday. The defender also bemoaned his frustration with injury, blaming it for his exit.

All good things have to come to an end I suppose. 14 memorable years at a great club. Met some great people and friends for life. Things never worked out the way I wanted them too with injuries but that’s football. Not many can say they came from the roots of the club and were good enough to get to the first team. Absolute honour playing for rangers, only wish I could’ve played more. All the best to the club and thanks to the fans, yous showed me nothing but positivity during the good and the bad!🇬🇧💙
A six-time Scotland Under-19 international, Wilson was one of many young players given his debut by pedro Caixinha – along with the likes of Myles Beerman and David Bates. He played two Scottish Premiership games in May 2017.
He played 90 minutes in a 2-1 defeat to Aberdeen at the end of the 2016-17 campaign before helping Rangers see off St. Johnstone at Perth. Many teammates and former Rangers players responded, including Barjonas and Jordan Thompson.
