Rangers fans react as club reportedly in talks to sign free agent
Rangers are reportedly in ongoing talks to sign free agent John Lundstram. The midfielder saw his contract at Sheffield United expire last week, and is now officially a free agent. Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to discuss reports that the Gers are in talks, and many want him signed this summer.
Lundstram, 27, was a crucial part of Sheffield United’s side that gained promotion to the Premier League, and then finished in the top half. That summer, the Blades tried to convince Lundstram into signing a new deal. But the midfielder had other ideas, and refused numerous approaches.
The Scottish Sun report that Rangers are keen on landing Lundstram having been previously linked in January. Now a free agent, Rangers can cut out the middle man and enter talks directly with the player’s entourage. The chance to play in Champions League football is likely to tempt Lundstram.
What do Rangers fans think of Lundstram?
The Gers do have numerous options in the middle of the park. But Steven Davis is 36 years of age and can hardly play every match. Ryan Jack is somewhat injury prone, while Bongani Zungu’s loan has not been made permanent. Rangers need another central midfielder.
Lundstram is the perfect option. Still 27, the midfielder has the engine, quality, goals and versatility to shine in a side coached by Steven Gerrard. On a free, it is a no-brainer. That at least, is the opinion of Rangers fans.
