Former Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart has lauded one Liverpool star for his performances at Euro 2024 this summer.
The Reds have seen a number of their best players go the distance at the European championship this summer, with Trent Alexander-Arnold’s England set to face off against Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch’s Netherlands side later today.
With Arne Slot also believed to be interested in signing Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, it’s clear that Liverpool are taking a real interest in this summer’s competition in Germany, where a Red could realistically win the entire thing.
And Tottenham icon Van der Vaart has showered one Liverpool player with his praise.

Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo hailed as ‘amazing’ after Euro 2024 performances
Speaking to the Times, the Dutch legend voiced his appreciation for Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo, who just like at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, has been one of the most productive players at the Euros with the Netherlands.
Being compared to former Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben by the Dutch media, Gakpo has delivered in a big way for Ronald Koeman’s side this summer, with the Liverpool man scoring three goals and assisting another.
And heading into tonight’s semi-final tie against England, Gakpo will be key for the Netherlands if they’re to set up another final with Spain, with the Liverpool man arguably the form player heading into today’s clash.
Van der Vaart said on the players who have impressed him at Euro 2024 this summer for the Netherlands: “Cody Gakpo will be an important player for us on Wednesday. He is playing amazing.”

Gakpo will want to put on another international masterclass vs England
Gakpo is quickly asserting himself as a tournament specialist after two back-to-back competitions for the Netherlands where the Liverpool star has been the main man for the Dutch.
And tonight against England, the former PSV Eindhoven star will want to put on another masterclass to book the Netherlands’ spot in the final against Spain, setting up a rematch of the 2010 World Cup final.
Indeed, the Liverpool winger has been a true star at this summer’s Euros, and whilst England’s players ar used to facing Gakpo, the Anfield attacker is showing he’s a different beast entirely when in the iconic orange of the Dutch national team.
