Goalkeeping coach Dave Watson has suggested that Aaron Ramsdale would be ideal for Chelsea with doubts over his Arsenal future heading into the summer.
There is a chance Aaron Ramsdale has now played his final game for Arsenal. Ramsdale has spent the majority of the season out of Mikel Arteta’s side following the signing of David Raya in the summer.
In fact, his only two Premier League appearances since September came against Brentford, with Raya ineligible to face his parent club.
Aaron Ramsdale would be ideal for Chelsea
Saturday was a turbulent game for Ramsdale. He made a big mistake for the Bees’ equaliser. But Ramsdale atoned for his error with a brilliant second-half performance; reminding everyone of the quality he has.

It is hard to imagine Ramsdale being happy to stay at Arsenal next season. But obviously, much will depend on what opportunities are there for the 25-year-old this summer.
Speaking on The Football Fill-In, Dave Watson suggested that Chelsea should be taking note of his situation.
“He deserves to be playing in the Premier League. But the ability that he’s got, he’s not going to want to sign for a lower or mid-table team, he’s going to want to be at the bigger teams. Where is the potential to have an opening? Could Chelsea look at him in terms of Sanchez or Petrovic at the minute? Would they be looking to maybe change? And would he fancy that kind of thing? That’s the kind of club that I think he deserves to be signing for,” he said.
Arsenal will demand a big sum
Mikel Arteta wants Ramsdale to stay. And finding another backup goalkeeper is going to be a difficult task unless someone like Karl Hein is ready to be promoted.
Ramsdale however, cannot watch his development stagnate. He is arguably better than Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic. And he will relish the chance to play regularly again.
Arsenal paid £30 million for the England international when he signed from Sheffield United. So they are going to demand a significant sum, particularly if a side such as Chelsea decide to make a move in the coming months.
