Presenter shares what he saw from every Tottenham man after Liverpool
Adam Carruthers of Stadium Astro put it to Ryan Sessegnon after Tottenham Hotspur’s draw with Liverpool that every single player in the Spurs squad looked devastated that they did not win the game in the tunnel at full-time.
Ahead of the clash, Tottenham fans may well have been tempted to take a point. Of course, the onus is on Antonio Conte’s men to win every game in their battle to finish in the top-four. But Liverpool are still fighting for the Premier League title.
The Reds did dominate possession, and dictated much of the contest. But Conte’s men defended outstandingly well, and they actually took the lead during the second-half.
Son Heung-min scored after being set up by Sessegnon. It was the South Korean’s 20th goal of the season in the top-flight, and leaves him two adrift of Mo Salah.
But Liverpool would earn a share of the points. Luis Diaz’s deflected strike levelled the game.
Tottenham did have a glorious late chance to win. However, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg decided to try and head the ball back across goal rather than have an attempt himself.
Spurs can be incredibly proud of their performance. And yet, it appears that Conte’s squad felt that they should have taken more from the contest.
At the start of an interview with Sessegnon, Carruthers shared what he noticed about every Tottenham player at full-time.
“We saw you all heading into the tunnel and the side, every player looked so disappointed not to get the three points,” he told Sessegnon on Stadium Astro.
Every single Tottenham player disappointed not to win at Liverpool
Tottenham would have become the first team to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League this season with a win on Saturday.
So it says a lot about the progress they have made that they were so disappointed. They went to Merseyside with a game-plan. And it nearly paid off in stunning fashion.
