Dier has praised Son Heung-Min after latest Tottenham goal at Anfield
Eric Dier has praised Son Heung-min, telling Tottenham’s media team after their draw with Liverpool that the forward has improved so much as he continues to push for the Premier League Golden Boot.
For much of the campaign, it appeared that Mohamed Salah would take the title at a canter. The Egyptian had reached 20 goals before the halfway stage in March.
However, the goals have largely dried up for the Liverpool forward. And with that, the door is now open for Son to potentially catch him.
The South Korean has now scored nine in his last seven in the Premier League. And his opener on Saturday at Anfield now leaves him two adrift of Salah, with both clubs having three games left.
Obviously, Tottenham’s focus will be on finishing fourth in the top-flight and securing that return to the Champions League. But Dier has insisted that Son closing in on Salah gives Spurs something else to fight for in the final days of the campaign.
“It’s a credit to him. He’s improved so much, he keeps on improving. Before every game I’m telling him that top goalscorer is there for him and he needs to believe it,” he told Tottenham’s media team.
I think he does and he’s getting closer and closer. Hopefully as a team we can play well and help him get that achievement.
“It would be fantastic for him if it’s accompanied with obviously wins for the team.”

It is remarkable how Son continues to keep improving. The Tottenham forward has now comfortably enjoyed his best tally in front of goal in the Premier League, eclipsing his total of 17 last season.
And it would be a monumental achievement if he could now catch Salah. Clearly, Dier believes that it is still very much there for the taking for his teammate.
