Potential James Maddison concern as Tottenham share training-ground video

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou must rally his troops following their chaotic Premier League defeat on Monday night.

The Spurs manager has several personnel issues to contend with due to suspension and potential injury.

James Maddison was one of two Tottenham players that had to come off during the Chelsea game after suffering a knock.

After the game, Postecoglou appeared upbeat about the Spurs summer signing’s fitness, suggesting he was taken off as a precautionary measure.

“He got a knock on the ankle,” Postecoglou told BBC Sport, as transcribed by the Evening Standard.

“We were down one man already. It made sense to make a couple of changes at that point.”

However, in a new video Tottenham have released from Hotspur Way, Maddison is nowhere to be seen.

Spurs shared a video on X of the Spurs first-team squad taking to the pitches, but there was no sign of the 26-year-old playmaker.

Concern as Maddison not seen in Spurs training video

James Maddison has been one of the most influential players in the Premier League this season, with Jermain Defoe deeming him “unbelievable” earlier this season.

Therefore, the sight of him having to come off in the first half will have been of concern to everyone connected with Spurs.

And though Postecoglou seemed to play down those fitness concerns, the fact Maddison didn’t come out with the rest of the players will also be worrying.

Let’s hope that this was also a precaution. It’s only Wednesday, so there are two more days ahead of matchday. Hopefully Maddison can return to training and be available for the trip to Wolves.
