Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that he ‘absolutely’ wants to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers permanently from Tottenham Hotspur, in comments reported by the Daily Record.
Carter-Vickers has proved to be an inspired loan addition for Celtic. He has only missed one Scottish Premiership game since arriving on loan in the summer.

It is hard to see the USMNT international forcing his way back into the fold at Spurs. He is now on his seventh loan. And he has only made five appearances in all competitions for his parent club.
Nevertheless, he may not come cheap. The Daily Record suggests that he is valued at around £6 million. But Postecoglou has made no secret of the fact that he would love for the defender to stay beyond this season.

“Absolutely. I wouldn’t have brought him in if I thought it was just a short-term thing,” he said, as reported by the Daily Record, when asked about whether he wants to keep the defender.
“All the players we have brought in, we have done so with some thought around building a team.”
Permanent Cameron Carter-Vickers move makes perfect sense for both Celtic and Tottenham
Both sides will surely welcome talks over a move for Carter-Vickers. Celtic have got a player they can seemingly build their defence around.
Tottenham meanwhile, look set to receive a decent fee for a player whose future seems to lie elsewhere. There have probably been times when they would have been delighted to receive anything like £6 million.
His stock is currently high. But unless Antonio Conte wants to take a look at him – which is perhaps not out of the question due to his ability to improve previously-written off players – Spurs will surely have few qualms about letting him go.
Perhaps Tottenham would be wise to seek some add-ons. That could be a percentage of a future fee, or even a buy-back clause.
But the time definitely looks to be perfect for all sides to agree a move.
