Ange Postecoglou quickly decided in pre-season that Pape Matar Sarr would be an important player for Tottenham Hotspur in this campaign.
That is according to a report from The Athletic, which notes that the Spurs boss was raving about the £15 million Senegal international by the end of July.
Pape Matar Sarr has been one of several revelations within the Tottenham squad so far this season. The 21-year-old only featured in 11 Premier League games last term.

He has already surpassed that tally in the opening months of this campaign. Sarr has formed an outstanding partnership with Yves Bissouma in the middle of the park.

Before this season, the pair had featured together for just 10 minutes at the end of the final day win over Leeds last year. But they have played 13 games together this term. And they have been outstanding.
Ange Postecoglou did not start Sarr in the opening day draw with Brentford. But it appears that he was confident that he would quickly come into his starting lineup.
The Athletic reports that Postecoglou identified that Sarr would be an important player early on in pre-season.
Spurs set to reward young midfielder
It seems that Tottenham are planning to reward the youngster for his fine start to the campaign. Spurs are now planning to follow Destiny Udogie’s new contract by offering Sarr a new deal.
Bissouma has arguably been the star of the show in the middle of the park. But what perhaps gets overlooked is that the Mali international has already proved what he can do in the Premier League.
Sarr had only made two starts in the top-flight before this season. And as previously mentioned, he had barely played with Bissouma.
There can surely be no doubt that Tottenham have an exceptional talent in Sarr. It says everything that Postecoglou spotted that pretty much straight away.
