FC Porto manager Sergio Conceicao has now made a bold claim about Arsenal having seen his side lose on penalties last night.
Although frustrated for almost every minute of the two legs, Mikel Arteta eventually saw his Arsenal side demonstrate the necessary quality.

In truth, Porto were masters at stopping Arsenal from playing over the tie, and do deserve a lot of credit for their clever game plan.
But the likes of Martin Odegaard simply seemed too determined to win last night, which was demonstrated by his excellent assist for Leandro Trossard’s goal.
Odegaard showed his strong mentality as a captain, also dispatching his spot-kick with confidence.
That being said, the Porto manager certainly didn’t seem too happy during the 90 minutes, let alone after his side eventually lost on penalties.
And when Conceicao was speaking after the game last night he actually thought his Porto side deserved to go through and not Arsenal.
Speaking at his press conference via BeanymanSports, the manager said that Arsenal didn’t really have a clear cut chance before they scored, saying his side didn’t give the hosts anything.
Porto manager Sergio Conceicao thinks Porto deserved to beat Arsenal last night
Conceicao seemed fairly adamant that the wrong team went through, saying Porto had ambitions to reach the quarter-finals.
He explained: “We had a lot of ambition to reach the quarter-finals and if there was a team which deserved to go through it would be us.

“Look at what Porto did, Porto didn’t give Arsenal anything. Arsenal did not really have a clear cut chance before they scored.”
Of course, Conceicao is correct in stating that his Porto team frustrated Arsenal last night, but it seems a stretch to suggest the wrong team progressed.
Mikel Arteta’s side definitely found it tough to play their football in their usual manner, but they did still show the necessary mentality to ultimately get the job done.
Also, some may still feel that Martin Odegaard’s goal shouldn’t have been ruled out in the second half when Kai Havertz was called up for a foul on Pepe.
It was a tie of very fine margins, and Arsenal probably couldn’t say Porto didn’t deserve to progress had the spot kicks gone the other way, but Conceicao’s words do seem strong.
Either way, Arsenal will just be so happy to have navigated past an incredibly tough match up.
That being said, both Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber were so impressed with one display last night.
