A former Arsenal player has officially re-signed for one of his old clubs and is delighted to have made the switch.

Mikel Arteta’s side has changed dramatically over the years – and that’s definitely for the better. The purchases of Declan Rice, William Saliba, Martin Odegaard and more have transformed the club in recent years.

The squad is entirely different to when the Spaniard first took over and seems a far cry from the days of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up top.

The latter, Aubameyang, has found himself moving back to a club he holds close to his heart.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has moved to Marseille

Marseille have completed the signing of Aubameyang on a free transfer.

The former Arsenal forward terminated his contract at Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah earlier this month, which means he was able to join a new club as a free agent.

He spoke fondly about his arrival at the airport in France.

“I missed all of this. It’s such a pleasure to see all the supporters,” Aubameyang said. “Honestly, family, I’m moved, really moved, and so happy to see you all. And this year, we’re going to go all out!

“I can’t wait to play at the Velodrome again. On the plane, I caught a glimpse of the stadium… The somersault? I promise I’ll do plenty this season, but there’s another celebration you all know very well,” he declared.”

He scored 92 times in 163 games, and still is one of their most prolific forwards in the post-Arsene Wenger era. That said, things ended with bad blood for Arsenal and Aubameyang.

Arsenal fans not fond of Aubameyang after viral Chelsea video

Aubameyang was not done with the Premier League after leaving the Emirates.

The Gabonese striker was released by Mikel Arteta in 2022, with the forward forcing a move to Barcelona, which didn’t exactly work out.

Fellow London club Chelsea then brought him in, where he was set to face the Gunners in May of the 23/24 season.

A viral video emerged from the game, showing Aubameyang appearing emotional on his Arsenal return as he took in the Emirates atmosphere before Chelsea were defeated 3-1, which Arsenal fans believed to be an act.

The Gunners truly did get the last laugh over the now 36-year-old.
