Newcastle United owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), have made a decision regarding Joelinton.

That is according to The Daily Mail, which has noted why Newcastle could sell Joelinton at the end of the season.

So, what has been reported about Newcastle United and Joelinton? Let’s take a look.

Newcastle United could sell Joelinton

Well, according to The Daily Mail, Newcastle United could sell Joelinton in the summer of 2024.

Joelinton has only 18 months left on his current contract. Although the Brazilian midfielder wants to extend his current deal at Newcastle, his “current wage demands are beyond what the club’s hierarchy are willing to pay”.

The report in The Daily Mail has claimed that although Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is “determined” to keep the 27-year-old, if Joelinton does not reduce his wage demands, then PIF could him in the summer of 2024.

Joelinton, described as “incredible” by Howe, will undergo surgery on a thigh injury in the coming days and will not play for Newcastle again this season.

My View: Newcastle United have to keep Joelinton

In my view, Newcastle United have to keep Joelinton. I believe that PIF need to work it out with the 27-year-old’s agents and come to an agreement over a new deal.

Joelinton struggled as a forward, but he is a transformed figure under Newcastle manager Eddie Howe.

Howe has played the 27-year-old as a midfielder, and the Brazil international has flourished in his role. Even Steve Bruce has been impressed.

Joelinton is only 27 and is at the top of his game. It would cost Newcastle a lot of money in transfer fees to replace the Brazilian.

The attacker has made 152 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. Joelinton has scored 18 goals and given seven assists in those games.
