Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, has been speaking about his former manager Jose Mourinho and the comparison with Pep Guardiola.

Hojbjerg enjoyed a productive and enjoyable spell with Mourinho while he was in charge at Spurs. The Danish midfielder was one of Mourinho’s trusted generals in midfield, and featured regularly. Indeed, just this week, reports have even emerged to suggest that Mourinho now wants Hojbjerg with him in Rome.

And speaking about his former manager, Hojbjerg admits he is honoured to have played under the Portuguese coach.

“It was to be fair unfortunately a short time, but I learned a lot and it was a great experience. It was special. They are both different [Pep and Jose], in their playing style and managing style,” Hojbjerg commented.

“One is very technical, one is very personal. Both are remarkable. They probably don’t think it, because they are both very much in the moment, but when they decide to rest, they will be remembered as the greats.
I’m very proud to have been called in their team sheet.”

Hojbjerg has remained a key player under Antonio Conte this season. His form has helped Spurs put themselves within touching distance of the top four. On the surface, it would appear Mourinho has no chance of landing Hojbjerg.

However, every player has his price and with Conte expected to overhaul things this summer, you just never know.

TBR’s View: Hojbjerg Is The Ideal Mourinho Player

When you think of a Jose Mourinho team you think of players who are committed to the cause, buy into Mourinho’s win at all costs ethos, and have a close relationship with the man himself. Hojbjerg was very much like that with Jose at Tottenham.

You could see them together at Roma, too, to be honest. Hojbjerg’s grit in the middle would suit Italy and you can see why Mourinho wants a reunion.
