Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg might be affiliated with Jose Mourinho, but the Danish midfielder has been ravishing the praise on Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola too.
Hojbjerg enjoyed his time with Spurs under the guidance of Mourinho. Indeed, reports this week have suggested that Mourinho actually wants to take Hojbjerg with him to Roma. Of course, his form for Tottenham under Antonio Conte suggests Spurs won’t be letting him go on the cheap.

But despite having that affinity to Mourinho and Tottenham, Hojbjerg did work with Guardiola in Munich and has admitted to be being blown away by the Spaniard.
“I am actually surprised that he’s stayed that long at City. From that case I’m surprised he’s stayed that long in the Premier League but for the league it’s fantastic to have a coach like this,” Hojbjerg said of Guardiola.
“It’s a man who is never satisfied but a man who every time he gets better. He evolves his game and his player and I remember speaking to a teammate of mine yesterday saying that alone from having two sessions with Pep, I remember from that, you start to open your football horizons. It’s quite special. He has a great vision in football and great understanding, he pushes his people to the limit.”
TBR’s View: Guardiola Leaving An Impact Everywhere
Whatever club you play for, there is a respect in the game for just how good Pep Guardiola is. After all, you don’t have the success he’s had with Barca, Bayern, and City without being top drawer.
Hojbjerg probably wishes he’d worked with Pep for even longer. But in fairness to the Dane, his record of coaches he’s now worked under is quite excellent. Mourinho, Pep, and now Conte, there isn’t really anyone else out there better.
Guardiola will go down as a legend of the English game when he eventually leaves. Much like Sir Alex Ferguson, he’ll leave a huge imprint on the football in England.
