Jonathan Dinzeyi was involved in Arsenal first-team training ahead of Monday’s clash with Newcastle United as Mikel Arteta faces a potential crisis at centre-back.
Arsenal have it all to do in the race for the top-four. The situation remains in their own hands as they have a game in hand over their North London neighbours. However, two wins look to be required to ensure that they book their ticket to next season’s Champions League.
What has not helped is that Arteta is dealing with a problem at centre-back. Rob Holding was sent off during the first-half of the derby. And Gabriel Magalhaes had to come off with injury after the break.
Ben White was on the bench against Spurs and is reportedly likely to start. But he is returning from a hamstring injury.
Takehiro Tomiyasu is an option, while Arteta may have others in mind. And he certainly appears to be keeping his options open.
The photos from Arsenal training show Dinzeyi working with the senior squad. The 22-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for the Gunners.
He has started the last four Premier League 2 games for the under-23s, helping the Gunners to four draws in that time. So perhaps he may find himself on the bench on Tyneside.

It would be a surprise if the youngster made his debut at Newcastle. It is a massive game for Arsenal. And Arteta is surely more likely to use someone such as Granit Xhaka or Mohamed Elneny back there.
But having him in the squad will be helpful if Gabriel does not make the trip.
Holding will be back for the final day. But it may be a positive for Dinzeyi heading into next season if he is named in the match day squad.
