Report: Ben White looks set to start for Arsenal at Newcastle
Ben White looks set to start for Arsenal in their crucial Premier League clash with Newcastle on Monday, according to a report from The Guardian.
The Gunners now must win to keep their advantage over Tottenham heading into the final day. Spurs moved ahead of Mikel Arteta’s side with a victory on Sunday.
Arsenal have been dealt a big blow ahead of the contest, however. Rob Holding, of course, was sent off in the North London derby. Meanwhile, Gabriel Magalhães was replaced due to an injury later on in the contest.
Despite naming him on the bench, Arteta resisted the temptation to bring White on in their last game. The England international had been sidelined for their previous two fixtures due to a hamstring injury.
But it would seem that White is set to return on Monday. The Guardian reports that it is likely that he will start against the Magpies in Arsenal’s final away game of the campaign.
You would imagine that he may well start alongside Takehiro Tomiyasu on Tyneside.
Ben White looks set to start for Arsenal
White has enjoyed a positive first season at Arsenal. He arrived under a lot of pressure due to the fee that the Gunners paid to get him from Brighton.
But he has dealt with that situation extremely well. And his partnership with Gabriel looks to have enormous potential for the years to come.
So it is a real boost that he is looking set to play on Monday. And Arsenal will need a big performance from the 24-year-old with Newcastle looking to sign off on a high at home.
He has been ‘fantastic‘ for much of this season. Arsenal need just a couple more massive displays from their summer signing.
