Kalvin Phillips appears to have mocked West Ham on Instagram after responding to Raphinha following the Leeds United star’s latest display for Brazil this week.
Raphinha opened the scoring on Tuesday as Tite’s men beat Paraguay 4-0. It was a moment of brilliance from the winger. He cut back onto his left foot and unleashed an effort into the bottom corner.

He also had another brilliant effort ruled out by VAR. But it was unquestionably the kind of performance that would have whetted the appetite of Leeds supporters ahead of their return to action later this month.
However, had events played out differently in the latter stages of the January window, Raphinha could have potentially ended up heading to a different part of the country upon his return.

Reports claimed West Ham made Leeds a £50 million bid for Raphinha. Unsurprisingly, Leeds rejected the offer for their top goalscorer.
There looked to be next to no chance of Marcelo Bielsa’s men selling Raphinha at any price. But certainly, Phillips has made it clear what he makes of the idea West Ham may have thought they had a chance of a £50 million deal on Instagram…

Phillips taking shot at West Ham over Raphinha particularly significant after Leeds star also attracted £50 million bid
Of course, Raphinha was not the only Leeds player West Ham reportedly bid for. Reports claimed the Hammers also offered £50 million for Phillips.
So his comment poking fun at West Ham looks particularly significant. If he was at all interested in joining the Irons in January, he would surely not make that sort of comment.
Leeds will indeed face a battle to keep players such as Phillips and Raphinha in the future. But clearly, their admirers are going to have to make an incredible offer to lure him away.
