Villarreal defender Pervis Estupinan played last night in the UEFA Super Cup final – and some West Ham fans on Twitter reacted positively to their target’s performance.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, West Ham are interested in signing the 23-year-old this summer. In addition, CalcioNapoli24 suggests that the left-back is very close to completing a move to the London Stadium.

Estupinan, who helped Ecuador reach the Copa America quarter-finals this summer, came off the bench yesterday for his club side Villarreal.

Villarreal eventually lost the European final 6-5 on penalties to Chelsea after the game had finished 1-1 after extra time.

Estupinan injected some great pace and energy out wide when he entered the action during the second half. He converted an extremely calm penalty in the shootout, albeit he ended up on the losing side.

West Ham fans impressed by Pervis Estupinan

For West Ham, their squad looks wafer thin right now.

Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs two or three senior signings added to his group because he’s got to balance domestic and European football this season.

Estupinan caught the eye yesterday against English opposition, so looks an exciting target.

He was an important player last season in La Liga for Villarreal, but it looks like the South American has the perfect physique to thrive in the Premier League.
