Liverpool face Manchester City on Sunday in what, historically has been a Premier League title-defining clash.
This year, however, the stakes aren’t quite as high for both teams heading into this game.
Indeed, Liverpool are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League, and while Arsenal are breathing down their necks, there’s still a decent buffer for Arne Slot’s side.
Liverpool are certainly favourites to win the league.
Meanwhile, for the first time in a long time, Manchester City are nowhere near the title race.

Liverpool are in a strong position, but, as ever, heading to The Etihad is not an easy task.
Writing in his column for SportsKeeda, Paul Merson has now predicted the result of this game and how it will go.

Paul Merson predicts Manchester City vs Liverpool
Merson shared his verdict on how this game will go.
The pundit ultimately tipped a 3-1 win for Liverpool, claiming that a victory here will end Arsenal’s title chances.
“A win for Liverpool here would be the end of Arsenal’s title hopes. Once they beat City, I expect Liverpool to win against Newcastle and Southampton. Now that’s 13 points out of a possible 15 against arguably three of the top six teams in the league. That is champion mentality in my opinion,” Merson wrote.
Liverpool recent record vs Manchester City
Merson reckons Liverpool will beat City here, and that’s not an outlandish prediction.
Indeed, the Reds have been much better than City this season, and their recent record against Pep Guardiola’s side is stellar.

Of course, the big danger man heading into this game is Mohamed Salah.
Salah is in Ballon d’Or winning form at the moment, and the reality is that this could be Salah’s final game against Manchester City for Liverpool as his contract ticks towards expiry.
If this is to be Salah’s final game against City, he’ll surely want to go out with a bang, and City, as ever, need to be wary of The Egyptian King and his remarkable ability to score goals.
