Pau Torres has told Marca that the offer of a new contract from Villarreal is the only thing on the table for him right now amid reports Tottenham have bid around £43 million for the defender.
Torres could well be on the move to the Premier League this summer. Of course, he rejected the chance to join Tottenham 12 months ago as they prepared for a campaign under Nuno Espírito Santo.

Much has changed since. Antonio Conte is now in place. And there is a real sense that Spurs are moving in the right direction at a rapid rate.
Reports recently claimed that Tottenham and Manchester United have already bid £43 million for Torres. It was noted that the 25-year-old’s preference was actually to move to Old Trafford.

But it seems that suggestions that he had offers from England may have been premature. Torres has insisted that he is not ruling anything yet. However, he insisted that he is not aware of any bids from elsewhere.
“Everything is possible and I do not rule out anything,” he told Marca. “These are very difficult decisions, there is nothing. There is no decision taken. The only offer I have today is the renovation with the Villarreal. I know they love me here and they love me very much.
Pau Torres casts doubt over Tottenham offer reports
Tottenham appear to be prioritising a move for Alessandro Bastoni. So it is probably reasonable to assume that Torres has indeed not had an offer just yet.
Of course, it is possible that they want both players. They have Champions League football to look forward to next year. And Conte will want a lot more strength in depth in his ranks.
But signing Torres and Bastoni could eat up almost £100 million of their budget. The Inter Milan star is valued at around £51 million.
It seems that no offer for Torres has come in from Tottenham.
But there is a long way to go this summer.
