Patrick Vieira makes big claim about Leeds star Jack Harrison
Patrick Vieira has told Sky Sports that Jack Harrison sticks out as one of the best players he has worked with as a manager, insisting that it was always clear that the Leeds United star and reported Tottenham target had the potential to reach his current level.
Vieira has enjoyed a fantastic first year as a Premier League manager. He has done extremely well at Crystal Palace. A lot of changes were required at Selhurst Park in the summer. And he has led them towards a very reasonable finish this season.
The Frenchman has previously worked with some superb players. His managerial career at senior level started at New York City, while he also took charge of Nice.
Vieira was asked about the best players he has managed. And while he noted that the likes of Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo and David Villa are on another level, he did pick out one current Premier League star he always had high hopes for.
“When I was at New York City I had a chance to work with Lampard, Villa and Pirlo and they were fantastic players, so I can’t really compare with those players. They were the top of the top,” he told Sky Sports.
“But one of the best young players I worked with was Jack Harrison. When I was at New York he was a young player coming through and you could see that he had the ability to go where he is at the moment.”
Jack Harrison one Leeds player likely to attract interest this summer
Certainly, Leeds fans are expecting a battle to keep hold of the likes of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips this summer. And the list of players who could leave will be much longer if Jesse Marsch’s side cannot keep themselves in the Premier League.
Harrison is one of those likely to attract attention. He has scored seven times in the top-flight this season, with three coming in his last five. Marsch has recently described him as ‘fantastic‘.
Reports have claimed that Tottenham are monitoring the 25-year-old. And they are unlikely to be the only ones looking to secure his signature.
Harrison’s form has not been quite as impressive over the entirety of the campaign. But clearly, Leeds will be incredibly keen to hold onto him for as long as possible for everything he gives the team.
