Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Juventus and Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, and the 32-year-old has just produced a moment of magic in Qatar.

Poland are playing Saudi Arabia at the moment in their second game at the World Cup this year. Piotr Zielinski gave them the lead in the 39th minute, but Szczesny is the one who’s earning all the plaudits.

Pat Nevin raves about Tottenham target Wojciech Szczesny’s penalty save

After Poland took the lead, Saudi Arabia came at them. They tried really hard to get back into the game before half-time, and luckily for them, they were awarded a penalty.

Arsenal old-boy Krystian Bielik committed a clumsy tackle on Saleh Al Shehri in the box. The referee waved play on, but VAR intervened and a spot-kick was awarded to the Saudi Arabians.

Salem Al Dawsari stepped up but his penalty was saved magnificently by Szczesny. That was fantastic on its own, but the Juventus shot-stopper pulled off an even better stop to deny the rebound by Mohammed Al Burayk.

That was simply stunning from Szczesny and Pat Nevin was blown away.

He said on BBC 5 Live: “What a save that is from the rebound by Szczesny.

“That is utterly brilliant – a world-class save.”

Szczesny has been linked with a move to Tottenham

Italian outlet CalcioMercatoWeb claimed last week that Tottenham are interested in signing Szczesny in 2023.

It was claimed that Spurs are ‘very interested’ in the Pole and that Antonio Conte would ‘gladly take’ him to replace club captain Hugo Lloris.

90min then claimed a few days ago that Szczesny has been offered to Tottenham. It was claimed that even though Spurs aren’t actively pushing for a deal, they aren’t shutting down the possibility either.

After his tremendous double save in Qatar today, we understand why he’s still a wanted man.
