Tottenham Hotspur are close to announcing the signing of German striker Timo Werner, with the paperwork for the deal now done.
Werner has been tipped to fly over to England either at the weekend or tonight and he is expected to put the finishing touches on a deal to join Spurs on loan.
The former Chelsea striker emerged as a shock name on Spurs’ list over the weekend and it now looks like the club have moved fast to get things done.

Tottenham to sign Timo Werner
According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, everything in terms of paperwork is now done for Werner to complete his move to Tottenham.
The striker is expected in London this evening and it’s expected that Spurs will move on with making the announcement of the signing.
Plettenberg states that there will be a buy option in the deal of around £15-16m, should Spurs with to take that up in the summer.
Tottenham are also chasing a deal for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.
However, there is some doubt over that one, with Bayern Munich apparently close to sealing a deal for the Romanian themselves. It remains to be seen if Spurs will go back with a counter offer and finally land the young defender.
Tottenham are also reportedly looking at Nottingham Forest skipper, Morgan Gibbs-White, ahead of a likely summer bid,
Exciting times for Spurs fans
While there will be some reservations from some at Tottenham about the signing of Timo Werner, there is no doubt this is an exciting season to be a supporter.
Ange Postecoglou has got his team right in the mix for the top four and even the title and adding new players was always going to be key in January.
With Werner now looking like it’s over the line, that’s a good start to the window.
The German will hope to have a big impact and show those at Chelsea he can succeed in England.
Key for Tottenham now is ensuring they back this signing up with more. It would be a nightmare if they now miss on out Dragusin, so that one needs sorting.
Likewise, another midfielder may also be on the agenda before the month ends.
