Frustration was certainly boiling over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at full-time.

Spurs had just been denied a place in the Champions League knockout stages by a lengthy VAR check.

On BT Sport, Owen Hargreaves was discussed the controversial decision.

Harry Kane thought he had scored a dramatic winner in the final moments against Sporting.

He pounced on a deflected knock down from Emerson Royal, and placed the ball past Sporting’s goalkeeper.

However, it took minutes to decide if Kane was ahead of the ball when Royal headed it, and if the touch off the defender was deliberate.

The goal was eventually ruled out, leading to mass protests from Tottenham’s players and staff.

Hargreaves admitted he heard Antonio Conte screaming at the referee, and he was duly sent off.

Conte still hadn’t calmed down after the match, and was very emotional in his post-match press conference.

Conte was screaming at the referee yesterday

Covering the game on BT Sport (26/10 10:11pm), Hargreaves shared what he heard Conte screaming at the referee.

“You can see him saying why?” said Hargreaves.

“If it had been really obvious it wouldn’t have taken them four or five minutes to rule it out.”

Conte explained after the match why the referee sent him off, but was still massively frustrated with the decision.

He would also have been annoyed by his side failing to wrap up the match before the final moments.

Tottenham struggled in the first-half, but game out of the blocks flying and in reality, should have secured their place in the knockout stages already.

Some Spurs insiders are starting to worry that Conte may leave the club, although he’s frequently denied this.

If Tottenham do crash out the Champions League next week, Juventus may fancy their chances of poaching their former manager.

After Conte’s red card for screaming at the referee, Spurs may go into their final group game without the gaffer on the bench.

It will be up to the players to make sure they advance in Europe’s premier competition.
